Since reopening The Burrell Collection has been subject to praise from critics and, most importantly, has been winning the hearts of Glasgow’s visitors.

The Burrell Collection was announced as winner of the Art Fund prize at a ceremony at the British Museum, and presented by Grayson Perry, and on BBC One’s The One Show by actors Emily Blunt and Matt Damon.

Dame Mary Beard, a judge for the award said of the Burrell that "They have realised, with real rigour and imagination, the true depth of what it means for a museum to be accessible. I would encourage everyone to go and experience it."

It was one of two Scottish museums to make the shortlist this year, alongside Scapa Flow Museum, Orkney. The other three finalists were Leighton House in London, The MAC in Belfast and the Natural History Museum in London.

The Burrell underwent a total redevelopment including the transformation of its building and displays. The resulting experience combines beautiful displays and collections with an ethos focused on accessibility, meaning all visitors can engage and feel at home.

Event saw this project through from masterplan to design and delivery, working closely alongside our collaborators Beck Interiors, Leach, who delivered graphic production, and architects John McAslan + Partners.
